As a parent we know there are always a lot of questions when putting your child in an activity to better their advancement in that field. Below are the most frequently asked questions from parents who are looking to enroll their child in art lessons at Othels Art Academy.

Q: Where is Othels Art Academy located?

A: Othels Art Academy is located at 11500 Webb Bridge Way, Suite 1A, Alpharetta, GA 30005 on the Alpharetta/Johns Creek border at the intersection of Webb Bridge Way and Kimball Bridge Road inside Agincourt.

Q: What Is The Curriculum Taught During Art Lessons?

A: Each month’s curriculum is different and is built by our teachers using the elements of art. Our main focus is the improvement of skill building, understanding and technique growth in the use and application of different styles, subjects, and mediums.

Q: What Will My Child Be Learning?

A: All grade levels receive comprehensive instruction in a wide variety of artistic mediums, techniques, and creative styles throughout the year. Depending on the month’s curriculum, they will gain hands-on experience with graphite, colored pencil, oil pastel, chalk pastel, watercolor, acrylic paint, charcoal, mixed media, and more. Our lessons provide a diverse range of subjects, including animals, landscapes, abstracts, portraits, still life, and many others.

Q: Who Are The Art Teachers?

A: We want only the best educators for our students and take great pride in hiring  highly trained, certified, professional, educated, loving and experienced art teachers. All of our teachers will fall under at least one of our strict requirements; professional artist, art degree, teaching degree with art background and understanding. We know the list doesn’t seem long, but obtaining any one of our requirements takes years of hard work and dedication.

Q: How Do The Month To Month Art Lessons Work?

A: Our art lessons are offered on a month-to-month basis with no long-term commitment or contract. You may suspend or cancel your child’s art lessons at any time by submitting the appropriate form and following our account changes policies and procedures.

 

Q: Do We Need To Bring Any Of Our Own Art Supplies?

A: No. You will never need to bring any art supplies or materials to art lessons, supplies are always provided. We do encourage parents to make sure their child has access to basic art supplies at home.

Q: Is The Enrollment Fee A One Time Fee?

A: The enrollment fee is for new students only and helps get your child’s information set up in our systems. The enrollment fee is a one-time fee, unless you cancel your child’s art lessons account or you suspend your child’s art lessons account for longer than two consecutive months, at which they will then be considered a new student and the enrollment fee will be reapplied once they re-enroll or return.

Q: Are Art Lessons Held Only During The School Year?

A: No. Our art lessons run year round, even in June and July.

Q: What Is The Holiday Closing Schedule For Art Lessons?

A: Our entire year’s holiday closing schedule for art lessons can be found by clicking on the calendar icon on the home page, underneath the art lessons tab at the top menu, or by clicking here. Please note: Othels Art Academy always follows the Fulton County School District closings due to inclement weather circumstances.

Q: Are There Make-Up Lessons Available?

A: Yes. Each student is eligible for one make-up lesson per month for any art lesson(s) they’ve missed. Make-up lessons are typically held on the second Saturday of each month from 12:00 PM–1:00 PM, unless otherwise noted on our monthly make-up schedule. All make-up lessons are held the following month of in which the absence occurred. Art lesson(s) falling on or during a holiday closing or that are canceled following a Fulton County School District closure due to inclement weather circumstances are not eligible for a make-up lesson Make-up lessons must be attended during the designated month for the missed lesson(s) and cannot be carried over, credited, or transferred to another month.

Q: When Should I Drop Off And Pick Up My Child?

A: Please have your child arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before their scheduled art lesson and be picked up within 5 minutes after their lesson ends. Parents are welcome to relax in our lobby while their child is in class, or if you prefer, you are able to drop your child off and return at the end of their lesson. For the safety of all students, please note that our staff is only responsible for students during their scheduled lesson time. We are unable to provide supervision before or after any lesson outside of the arrival and dismissal windows outlined above.

Q: My Schedule Has Changed, Can I Switch My Child’s Art Lessons Day And Time?

A: Yes. You may change your child’s art lessons schedule by visiting the account changes page or by clicking here. Schedule changes can only take effect at the beginning of a month.

Q: When Is My Child’s Monthly Tuition Paid?

A: Your child’s first months art lessons tuition will be paid at time of enrollment, along with their enrollment fee. Each month following your child’s tuition will be billed and paid through recurring payments on the billing date chosen at time of enrollment. You may choose any day from the 1st through the 7th of the month for your child’s art lessons tuition to be billed.

Q: How Do I Make Changes To My Child’s Art Lessons Account?

Q: How Long Will It Take For My Child To Become A Better Artist?

A: While each child’s artistic abilities, understandings and studying practices are different, six to eight months in our art lessons program you will see a significant difference in their art thinking, understanding, techniques and applications. Remember to encourage your child to practice drawing at home in their spare time. Consistent practice is the only way for your child to advance sooner.
