As a parent we know there are always a lot of questions when putting your child in an activity to better their advancement in that field. Below are the most frequently asked questions from parents who are looking to enroll their child in art lessons at Othels Art Academy.

ART LESSON FAQ’S

Q: Where is Othels Art Academy located?

A: Othels Art Academy currently offers two convenient locations in Alpharetta, GA. Othels Art Academy East is located at 11500 Webb Bridge Way, Suite 1-A, Alpharetta, GA 30005 on the Alpharetta/Johns Creek border. Othels Art Academy West is located at 11775 Northfall Lane, Suite 202, Alpharetta, GA 30009 on the Alpharetta/Roswell border.

Q: What Is The Curriculum Taught During Art Lessons?

A: Each months art lessons curriculum is different and is built by our teachers using the elements of art. Our main focus is the improvement of skill building, understanding and technique growth in the use and application of mediums.

Q: Will My Child Only Be Learning Drawing And Painting?

A: No. Although drawing and painting is a high focus of attention, your child will be taught in and experience different mediums from oil pastels, chalk pastels, colored pencils, pens, watercolors, markers, etc. depending on what the curriculum is for that month.

Q: Who Are The Art Teachers?

A: We want only the best educators for our students and take great pride in hiring  highly trained, certified, professional, educated, loving and experienced art teachers. All of our teachers will fall under at least one of our strict requirements; professional artist, art degree, teaching degree with art background and understanding. We know the requirements list doesn’t seem long, but obtaining any one of those requires years of hard work and dedication.

Q: How Do The Month To Month Art Lessons Work?

A: Art lessons are month to month. There is no long term commitment required. You are able to suspend or cancel your child’s art lessons account for any reason at anytime following our account changes policies.

Q: Do We Need To Bring Any Of Our Own Art Supplies?

A: You will never need to bring any art supplies, utensils or materials to art lessons, supplies are always provided. We do encourage parents to make sure their child has access to basic art supplies at home.

Q: Is The Enrollment Fee A One Time Fee?

A: The enrollment fee is for new students only and helps get your child enrolled in art lessons and their information set up in our systems. The enrollment fee is a one time fee, unless you cancel your child’s art lessons account or you suspend your child’s art lessons account for longer than two consecutive months, at which they will then be considered a new student and the enrollment fee will be applied again once they re-enroll or return.

Q: Are Art Lessons Held Only During The School Year?

A: No. Our art lessons run year round, even in June and July.

Q: What Is The Holiday Closing Schedule For Art Lessons?

A: Our entire years holiday closing schedule for art lessons can be found by clicking on the clock icon on the home page, underneath the art lessons tab at the top menu or by clicking here. Please note: Othels Art Academy always follows the Fulton County School District closings due to inclement weather circumstances.

Q: Are There Make-Up Art Lessons Available?

A: Yes. We provide one make-up art lesson per student per month for any art lesson(s) missed. The make-up art lesson is typically on the second Saturday of each month from 12pm-1pm unless otherwise stated on the make-up schedule post. All make-up art lessons are held on the month following the month your child missed their art lesson(s). Art lesson(s) falling on or during a holiday closing or that are canceled following the Fulton County School District closings due to inclement weather circumstances are not eligible for a make-up art lesson. The make-up art lesson must be attended for the appropriate month missed and does not credit or carry over to other months.

Q: When Should I Drop Off And Pick Up My Child?

A: We ask that you do not have your child arrive any earlier than 10 minutes before their art lessons class starts and that you pick your child up no later than 5 minutes after their art lessons class ends. You are always more than welcome to wait in the lobby, watch tv, enjoy the fish tank, use our wi-fi or take a nap. Also feel free to drop off and return for pick-up at the end of their art lessons. Please remember we are not responsible for any child outside of their art lessons class time.

Q: My Schedule Has Changed, Can I Switch My Child’s Art Lessons Day And Time?

A: Yes. You may change your child’s art lessons schedule by visiting the account changes page, or by clicking here. Changes will take effect the following month.

Q: When Is My Child’s Monthly Tuition Paid?

A: Monthly art lessons tuition is set up through recurring payments when you enroll your child. Each month your child’s monthly art lessons tuition will be billed and paid on the date you have chosen. You can choose any day from the 1st through the 7th of the month for your child’s art lessons tuition to be billed.

Q: How Do I Make Changes To My Child’s Art Lessons Account?

Q: How Long Will It Take For My Child To Become A Better Artist?

A: While each child’s artistic abilities, understandings and studying practices are different, six to eight months in our art lessons program you will see a significant difference in their art thinking, understanding, techniques and applications. Remember to encourage your child to practice drawing at home in their spare time. Consistent practice is the only way for your child to advance sooner.
